The combination of museums depends on your interests, but if you choose the Pergamon Museum, it’s worth dedicating your entire visit to this place, as it is one of the most important museums on the Island, full of breathtaking exhibits. Visiting one museum typically takes between 2 to 3 hours, and after this amount of time, you may feel truly tired and find it harder to concentrate on the next collections. While each museum offers something unique, after two visits, it’s a good idea to take a break to fully appreciate the richness of each place. Remember that the quality of your visit is more important than the quantity, and each museum offers such unique experiences that you can truly enjoy the wealth of culture and art in Berlin with full focus.

Altes Museum (Old Museum)

How to Get to Museum Island in Berlin?
Getting to Museum Island in Berlin is easy and convenient, but it’s important to remember that driving in the city center, especially around the downtown area, is not the best option. Berlin has heavy traffic, a lack of parking spaces, and entering the central zone requires a Euro4 sticker. Therefore, it is recommended to leave your car on the outskirts of the city and use public transportation, which is very well-developed and convenient.
You can reach Museum Island using the following means of transport:

- S-Bahn (Train): Friedrichstraße, Hackescher Markt
- Tram: Am Kupfergraben, Hackescher Markt

How to Enter Museums in Berlin for Free?
It’s quite simple because on the first day of each month, you can visit many of Berlin’s museums for free! However, remember that on such days, the lines can be really long – sometimes even up to half a kilometer, regardless of the weather. My record wait time was 30 minutes, but it’s best to arrive just before opening (usually at 10:00) to avoid the crowds.
After waiting in line, we enter the museum, approach the counter, tell them how many people are with us, and receive a ticket marked “0 euro.” You must keep this ticket with you at all times, as it will be scanned at the entrance, and in some parts of the museum, they may ask you to show it again. Then, we head to the cloakroom, where for a small fee (1-2 euros), we can store our belongings in lockers. While there, we can also rent an audiobook – just let them know how many people are with you and what language you prefer, and then we’re ready to start exploring!
