Discover the Japanmarkt Festival: Japanese Magic in Berlin
Japanmarkt is an annual celebration of Japanese culture that first took place in Berlin in 2018. The festival quickly gained popularity and has been enthusiastically continued since then. I had the pleasure of attending the event in 2023 and 2024, and I plan to participate in the upcoming years as well.
Japanmarkt is a true feast for Japan enthusiasts! At the festival, you’ll find a wide range of exhibitors offering anime gadgets, kimonos, lunch boxes, chopsticks, and handmade crafts. You can also try Japanese delicacies such as ramen, takoyaki, and taiyaki.
The festival program includes workshops on Japanese crafts like calligraphy and origami, as well as sake tastings, where you’ll learn about its production history. On two stages – indoor and outdoor – there are concerts, acupuncture demonstrations, aikido, kimono dressing, tea ceremonies, as well as performances by Japanese artists and traditional music.
Although the venue is not large, the festival attracts crowds and creates a unique atmosphere. If you’re fascinated by Japanese culture or want to try something new, Japanmarkt is the perfect event for you!
