Introduction to Project ARADO
In Lower Silesia, there are many fairy-tale castles and palaces, beautiful mountain trails, charming towns, as well as underground secrets from World War II. The tunnels in Kamienna Góra were dug by the Germans, using forced labor workers. It is here that the project for the most famous jet aircraft, ARADO, was created.
The ARADO Project is a historical interactive route recreating the conditions during the tunneling process by forced labor workers in World War II. In the 1940s, the Germans began tunneling in Kamienna Góra, located between Wałbrzych and Jelenia Góra. The ARADO office, involved in the production of military aircraft, was located in a textile factory. It was here that the most famous aircraft, the ARADO 234, was created, and work began on its improved version, the ARADO 555, which was supposed to allow bombing enemy territories from a very long distance. However, the underground production does not fully explain the purpose of the tunnels the Germans created during the war. They do not resemble shelters in any way, and no treasures have been found (at least nothing is known about them), so why was all this done? There are many theories, but for now, this question remains unanswered.

Exploring the Underground Laboratory
During the tour of the tunnels beneath Kamienna Góra, you will hear the story of their creation while exploring the underground museum filled with military artifacts. You will be able to feel history firsthand and experience the cold in which forced laborers dug the tunnels. The damp and cold air will fill your lungs, and darkness will envelop your eyes. In the background, you will only hear the guide’s voice, bringing to life the story from years ago.
The tour of the tunnels takes about 45-60 minutes. Despite a very warm day, after just 10 minutes inside, you will feel a distinct chill. The tunnels are damp, and in some places, there is a bit of standing water. It is important to bring a warm hoodie and comfortable shoes, preferably with tread, as it can be slippery in some areas.
