The Longest Suspension Bridge in the World – Sky Bridge 721

Sky Bridge 721 is undoubtedly the longest pedestrian bridge in the world. It measures 721 meters in length, connecting two mountains. At its highest point, it is 95 meters above the ground, and the view of the surrounding area is breathtaking! The bridge was opened to visitors in 2022 and attracted a large number of tourists. Sky Bridge 721 weighs as much as 405 tons! Its construction involved 94 tons of steel and 66 supporting and windproof cables. The bridge can only be crossed in one direction, and the return path follows a trail that takes approximately 15 minutes to walk.

Where to park?

The parking lots at Sky Bridge 721 are paid and have barrier gates. A ticket is taken upon entry, which must be paid for at the parking meter before departure. During periods of high traffic, the parking attendants regulate the flow of vehicles between the upper and lower parking lots. The coordinates for the parking lots are provided below:

  • Lower parking – 50.142574, 16.807743
  • Upper parking – 50.152100, 16.814363

Parking prices vary depending on the season, ranging from 100 to 150 Czech korunas. Ticket prices may change, and all current information in English can be found HERE!

How to enter Sky Bridge 721?

From the parking lot, you need to reach the bridge. There are two ways to get to the top. One is a walk to the summit, and the other option is to take the cable car.

The longer version, and cheaper (on foot)

If we are set on walking and do not want to pay for the cable car, or want to use it only one way, we can take advantage of the available trail. We start the route on the yellow trail, which then turns into the blue one. The total length is about 3.6 kilometers, and it takes approximately 2 hours to reach the top. The trail can be used to both ascend and descend.

The shorter version, and more expensive (by cable car)

A shorter and probably more comfortable option is to use the cable car, which will take us to the top. The ride takes just under 10 minutes. The cost of a one-way ticket for an adult is 270 Czech korunas. I recommend using the cable car for the descent so you can enjoy the views from the top.

Fear of heights and crossing the bridge

I have been struggling with my fear of heights for many years and overcoming one barrier after another. From my own experience, I know that people with a strong fear of heights may not be able to cross the bridge. The most terrifying part is entering and exiting the bridge because you can feel it swaying sideways, and you walk like a drunk person. If you have strong willpower and don’t look down (the bridge is made of metal grating), you will manage. Remember that the bridge is one-way, so turning back may cause problems!

How to return to the starting point?

Since the bridge is one-way, the return route follows an educational trail around. It is a pleasant walk along the mountain top to the starting point. The trail also features a small bunker, but entry inside is not permitted. The route is about 1.3 kilometers long and takes around 20 minutes of enjoyable walking.

Sky Walk – a path in the clouds

Right next to Sky Bridge 721, there is another popular attraction – Sky Walk, or the Path in the Clouds. It is worth visiting for the stunning views of the mountains, the bridge, and the Młynicka Valley. The descent can be done in an unusual way – sliding down a slide in just a few seconds for a small fee. Entrance requires a separate ticket, or you can purchase one ticket for all attractions. More information can be found below!
