Zoo Park Erfurt

Zoo Park Erfurt is one of the largest zoos I have had the pleasure of visiting. It houses 136 different animal species from all around the world!

A trip to Zoo Park Erfurt is a full-day adventure. The zoo covers about 63 hectares and is home to approximately 870 animals from 136 different species worldwide. It ranks third in size among zoos in Germany. The facility is designed to replicate the natural environments of the animals living there.

You can get a close-up view of various animals, including peacocks, gundis, yaks, African elephants, vultures, lions, rhinos, and many more. An extra and personal favorite attraction is the goat pen, where there’s a vending machine with snacks for the animals. You can go in, sit, pet them, and when they hear the magical sound of food spilling… it’s definitely worth checking out their reactions.

Opening hours: March – October, daily from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
